galaxy s ii incredible piece of hardware, phenomenal, love samsung packs best available @ time of production phones , not withhold technology future model.

samsung galaxy s ii undisputed hardware powerhouse, love design too.



however!

nowadays don't buy phone, buy ecosystem of applications , services. unfortunately galaxy s ii brought down ****** android , it's crappy fragmented, messy ecosystem.



android blows, absolutely blows!

many people boast can "customize" , it's "free/open source" comes @ great expense of user experience, consistency , support.

, people change cause android looks crap , users try improve themselves.

ios, unlike android not need changing cause it's nice.

if go android, after iphone, you'll come crawling small i.

android mess, it's unorganized, fragmented(some apps work on phones, don't),

updates on android complete chaos , google not give ****, manufacturers , carriers slap skins , modifications phones , sell them, when google release update, manufacturers , carriers should update releases , give updates you. there middlemen between google , updates , long carriers , manufacturers in control android mess cause it's in best interest withhold updates , make buy new phone new software.

not additionally google fragmented phone android , tablet android too, lol!

applications on android second rate, second rate, function second rate(skype video, it?), feel second rate , second rate attention developers. there absolutely no uniformity , no consistency between applications, each app there own thing...

...the ui not consistent, know bounce effects when reach edge in ios? in android in places , menus , in others scroll , run wall/come complete stop no bouncing effects, nothing, ui not consistent. , in stock android worse, instead of bounce effects there stupid glow effect when reach edge, sucks.

google's ui designers suck!

android swallows batteries, it's running in virtualized environment instead of native , that's why needs horse power, , lags, dual cores, there still no hardware ui acceleration , first gen ipod touch smoother in scrolling , other operations.


android not support background audio... if you're listening , out of it, audio stops. annoying!


apps again, try skype, released version supporting video, supports video on few handsets , galaxy s ii not 1 of those, how messed that? have download patched apk in order video working, try telling average joe wanting call skype video.

there no gps apps on android, there google maps of course requires data(though there rumours google release updated version summer supports offline maps) , isn't third party solution tomtom, garmin, etc... available on iphone. , mentioned android second class citizen, take navigon gps app, on android it's absolutely terrible.

inconsistency right on galaxy s ii, try opening apps menu, changing view "list" , scrolling , down, when reach edges there no bounce effect, stops, not consistent.

browser on galaxy s ii incredible, love how smooth is, scrolling bit delayed, there jerkiness or choppyness has delayed response when swipe, tried several galaxy s ii phones , it's same.




longevity, that's reason why love iphone/apple , ecosystem.

nowadays it's software. hardware has reached level not matter much, it's enough. software decides things.

iphone, can have iphone 3gs, 2009 phone, , still latest , great experience apple offers cause apple supports phones 2 years, means 3gs ios 5.

can buy iphone , sure you're set 2 years , 2 major updates.

android have buy latest phone every 6 month latest experience cause updates on absolutely unorganized , carriers , manufacturers withhold them, though hardware capable.




iphone 3gs might have 1 generation older hardware in it's still provides better user experience. android on other hand requires tons of power run decently, galaxy s ii lags in places, when pinch screen show homescreens @ once, animation lags.

camera weak, , screen old technology it's software experience matters. platform important thing nowadays , durability of it.

when in couple of months galaxy s ii users selling phones , looking buy new galaxy s update, iphone 4 users enjoying latest , greatest ios 5 on phones, next year ios 6.

3gs users pretty set till 2012, cause 3gs, 4 , 5 run same ios 5. iphone 4 set till 2013, android users change @ least 3 phones.

you, don't want buy newest phone every 6 month, want latest os updates, iphone you'll have 2 years.

software why 3gs still quite relevant today, android phone 2009 relevant?


there 2 kinds of people buy androids:

1. ones buy phone , customize it, fiddle it, boast amazing benchmarks, , that's do... instead of know, doing productive phone.

2. average people no knowledge people above tell android simple amazing! buy phone, don't need customization, realize **** android , go iphone.

screw flanders, screw flanders, screw flanders

, thing android users boast multitasking, done badly, if want proper multitasking @ nokia's n9 meego.

features android has are:

notifications pull down menu - ios 5 has already.
widgets - ios have these in future.

that's it, that's situation right now.

however! google working on android release called "ice cream sandwich" due out in september/october, supposed address fragmentation problems, supposed unify android versions, solve update problems, improve ui , it's fluidity , introduce standardized application framework/ui consistent , unified look.

if managed execute big, big question. right now, not recommend android or galaxy s ii.

bottom line iphone 4 provides best user experience overall right now, if still want android, i'd recommend waiting till september when ice cream sandwich version comes out.

i'm not touching android till ice cream sandwich released, fixing issues listed in post , google mans , takes charge.
