Folder problem - renaming/accessing

help! have folder full of private work documents (1.5gb) have been hiding adding .log suffix. when add suffix looks normal .log file , nobody wiser (except me!). when i've wanted access folder remove .log suffix, , hey presto log files reverts original folder, , have access contents once again. problem when remove .log suffix reverts folder, contents not there anymore, when 'get info' on folder, shows folder still holding 1.5gb of documents! i've tried restart/shut down see if helps, still no joy. :( know how can these files view in original folder? :eek:
 

i've had similar problem , me solution create new folder in "blank" folder , once created, , rest of files visible... fingers crossed same goes you.
