VLC doesn't work anymore (Lion issue?)

i upgraded lion few days ago, , vlc worked fine until now. shut down first time while vlc still running, hoping resume feature open window in same place. didn't happen, instead vlc doesn't work anymore, won't play anything, message doesn't support container , (avi, mov, mp4, etc). also, when vlc running, item in menu bar vlc , clicking lags. i've tried restarting , downloaded latest vlc website didn't help. has experienced this? can me? thanks!
