Apple logo with spinning wheel, can't enter recovery

took iphone 3gs have screen replaced, working fine before brought in, after guy replaced screen have little apple logo spinning wheel.

have looked online , here's makes mine interesting:

-itunes recognizing phone , able sync/restore restoring not solve problem;

-i can hold home/power buttons until fingers bleed , not power off/enter recovery mode

-once did somehow recovery mode, did restore, , stupid apple logo/wheel thing came up.

have else can try (besides going store , strangling guy did this)?

p.s. said he's got 4 other phones same problem right , trying blame itunes/apple saying they're trying rid of old phones or crap that.
