Preferred method to transfer from MacBook to Mac Pro

i bought new 2010 quad core 2.8 mac pro. transfer files , programs 2008 macbook mac pro. best way of doing this?
 

migration assistant (utilities folder) , target disk mode

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
