1600 MHz RAM in iMac 2011 ?

just read thread in mbp forum, people had installed 1600 mhz kingston hyperx ram in mbp 15 , conclusion quad core 2.2 , 2.3 ghz cpu make use of 1600 mhz ram.

same should apply imac 2011 quad core 3.4 ghz - i'm contemplating upgrading 16 gb 1600 mhz kingston hyperx ram.

have actual experience ?

well thread says, work point? macs in experience match mhz potential of ram frequency of front side bus, means if fsb 1333mhz, if put in 1600mhz ram, it's potential capped because it's going run @ 1333mhz.

mhz on ram isn't speed of ram, it's maximum speed of fsb can support. ram speed measured in ns access time.
