Apple Display vs. Others?

so planning display hookedup 2009 imac (no thunderbolt) , looking @ options. confuses me why apple display cost grand? understand new, ones announced have thunderbolt , other stuff. talking ones before that. there special in sets apart other monitors? size main cost factor? hoping people here me this.

it's nice monitor. it's 27" ips monitor, not cheap. similar spec monitors in same price range, it's decent deal. however, wouldn't buy due lack of connectivity other mdp, mac exclusive.

CoD on Mac is Stuck in fail windowed mode.
