Can the 13" i5 handle gaming?

so sorry i'm new around sight , question may have been asked, can mac book pro 13-inch: 2.3 ghz i5 (baseline model) handle games civilization , star craft 2 (and work online out lagging ton) out upgrades. parents thinking of buying me 1 school , of coarse think cheepest moddle fit needs fine. :(
 

if you're looking game, i'd consider pc instead. i5 can run games, not @ higher settings.
