Can I wipe disk clean on old MBP by connecting it to new MBP?

i need wipe old 1 clean sell it, , of course, odd on old 1 broken. so, can connect 2 firewire , in target disk mode?
 

yes, or can put drive in external enclosure , same thing.

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
