Canon Battery Life

i have started getting timelapses , ones try , capture movement of stars (well movement of earth!).

however, have had inconsistent results battery life using canon 600d , tokina 11-16mm f2.8.

2 nights in row able take close 1,000 photos on period of 10 hours 30-35secs interval between exposures taken on s2 1920x1080 jpg.

last night , night before able take 290 pictures on period of 3 hours 20 mins. weren't particuarly cold nights , used similar techniques taking photo's timelapse wondering issue be?

thanks,

do have lcd set turn on after picture made length of time? i've turned off lcd "auto show" on 60d. also, did remember turn off lens stabilization (if has it) last time? uses more power, too.
