Need some help on sync please

i'm new here , new world of apple. here goes.

wife bought ipad , synced on gateway notebook (had download itunes, didn't have or media on computer) created , used here appleid. couple weeks after bought new macbookpro. set user accounts , me. created appleid ituens under folder, moved itunes media folder shared users folder can both share same media. changed path in prefrences in advance section under both users. did correctly?

problem i'm trying sync ipad new mac , says synce complete, none of music shows on ipad (purchased or ripped either one). wrong , how fix it. i'm loving change on way, learning how everthing works frustrating.
