FORMATING Internal HD(from PC) to External HD for mac

i took old 320gb sataii internal hard drive out of old windows xp pc, bought nexstar cx enclosure make external hd plugged in , didn't work on mbp. so, assumed formatting issue, hd formatted ntfs. attmepted format disc xp wouldn't let me saying (paraphrased) "you can't because make computer not work." partitioned , made partition fat32 because mac's can read/write format (yes?), still doesn't recognize hd @ all.

how can work? how format hd pc (because pc thing recognizes it) mac?

i'm not sure if i've provided enough information questions welcome.
 

if run disk utility on macbook pro drive plugged in, show on left side other devices?

if mac not read @ first, disk utility should able format mac can use it.
