SSD for 2011 17" MBP?

i'm hunting around sata iii ssd 2011 17" mbp. crucial c300 256gb ssd sadly did not work, couldn't format. i'm sending amazon. there ssds on market should work without issue? i'm guessing sata ii ssds work without problems? should try owc?


i'm thinking of sticking 750gb hdd while until 500gb ssds come down sub $500 price range...

help.
 

vertex 3 seem work well. after few firmware updates drive seems perform in mbp. need pc update firmware. $500 500gb sata 3 ssd drives... going waiting long time. , upgrade mbp before then.
