Mac Won't Reboot on HD

we ran permissions issue yesterday. "custom" permissions popped , went h... in handbasket.

couldn't reboot mac hd. had reboot install disk because when trying reboot i'm getting 'no' (ghostbuster) sign on startup window.

so, i've backed mac hd drive external via disk utility, saving files.

how proceed here don't know...can help?
 

do have mac? can use target disk mode on firewire repair disk permissions.

CoD on Mac is Stuck in fail windowed mode.
