CSS library items active link not showing

ive converted menu library item can update site without having go through everypage , make changes. make changes library item. item text list styles link, visited, active , hover. link, hover , visited styles work reason 'active' style not.

want able click on list item , item click on highlighted can see section in stays same 'link' style.

can help?

can post css if need be.

 

just ensure aware, "active" means while user has mouse button pressed, , not current/active page. also, order important.

if doesn't address problem, can show css you're working or link is?
