Please help clearing confusion on bootcamp and parallels

hi, new mac user , planning install windows on mba because need run specific software school. have done reading on forum , know there 2 options so. bootcamp or running virtual machine parallels, still kinda confused , able answer question. need make bootcamp partition first before install parallels or can install parallels stand alone software run windows? if need bootcamp first, how hard drive space should allocate partition?

parallels , bootcamp 2 different ways of running windows on mac, each pluses , minuses.

not have create bootcamp partition in order install parallels. parallels can run stand alone software (you of course need valid install disk windows). however, if have bootcamp partition, parallels can use existing partition windows virtual machine, again, it's not required.
