iMac, i7 2009 vs i5 2011 w/ssd

i have late 2009 27" imac i7 , loaded. i'm trying sell here's dilemma. should try sell mac , thunderbolt ssd imac, or should try put ssd in myself, or should content have (lol).

though have 8gb ram , on i7, feel slowness when opening apps. feel ssd improve , make computer 1 last me long time.

lot of photo editing , video encoding final cut, rip blurays often, cpu power. i'm not sure if new 2011 i5 w/thunderbolt , ssd faster 2009 i7 no thunderbolt/no ssd. maybe i7 ssd fastest, , first preference, it's i'm little timid opening mac up!

advice?
 

put ssd in now. cheaper losing money on sale buying new computer. not mention saved time involved switching computers. know want hear should new computer (i would) if you're content keeping computer as-is love ssd installed.

taking apart isn't worst thing in world long have knack dissembling things. pay shop ~$120 install whichever ssd get. sata ii ssd , install yourself, best/cheapest option.
