Which MBP 15" to buy?

hi all.

right have old 2008 non-unibody 15" mbp. it's got 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo 3mb l2 cache , 2gb memory. know sucks compared today's standards but, need to. use quite number of things (though 2 or 3 @ time), including email, internet, word processing (as excel, powerpoint, etc.), recording music garageband, video editing/exporting, iphone app development, occasional mac game, , occasional (lightweight) windows game using wine. kind of slow @ points, requiring reboot going again, less imagine.

unfortunately, it's taken abuse due lugging around in college, , think it's time buy new one. i'm hoping $100 app store gift card offer.

there 2 options me. want 15" screen. so, assuming 500gb 7200rpm hard drive , antiglare screen, same overall price either 2.0ghz model 8gb of memory, or 2.2ghz model 4gb of memory. or, 2.0ghz model 4gb of memory, , save $180.

so, more worth it, 200mhz of processing speed or 4gb of memory? or, based on current computer's stats, think 4gb , 2.0ghz? (keep in mind though, i'm hoping that'll overall "faster" [or less slow] current mbp)

well, try more memory in current computer. however, if plan buy new one, pass on memory upgrade through apple. it's $120 more yourself. you'll notice difference in games on 2.2ghz vs 2.0, 2.2 has considerably beefier graphics card. however, if you're light gamer, wouldn't matter much. so, depending on how want gaming experience should determine model get. there, determine whether or not have enough memory , upgrade if necessary. it's easy process takes 10 minutes.
