How to ENABLE iOS style accent pop-up menu


hullo everyone! i've updated mac os x lion, , happy (even 'natural' scrolling!). fly in ointment ios style accent pop-up. type in several languages, , have use multiple keyboard layouts accommodate various accents, macrons , on.. bit of pain. excited ios style accent pop-up menu system. great!

isn't here. doesn't happen. can't find option enable it, , searching online turns people hate , want removed... of whom suggest changing boolean operator defaults write -g applepressandholdenabled in terminal... i've tried both true , false , makes no difference: key repeats or doesn't repeat, sure enough, never ios style pop-up menu whatever do.

can tell me how access lovely new feature (which many people seem hate, admittedly)? i'd grateful!
 

well, doesn't work in firefox work in ms word.

doesn't work in gmail, either.
