Linux/Unix Flavor

so @ work use redhat 5.6 , 6.0 alot. wanted bring mba vmware , wondering linux/unix os should use.

fedora top choice "free" version of redhat not sure if might run better in general. or has more features.

thanks,

you mean redhat 5.5, there never 5.6. both of those, released in mid-90s. might want upgrade newer version. ;) :d

all linux distributions have same features can install want on top of 1 of them. there no "more features". "better" run, that's subjective , prone starting holy war. if you're used redhat enterprise linux, either run fedora or centos. if want try new, ubuntu has different paradigm software management.

if want hands dirty , learn how linux works , play around gnu tools , real deal build system (autoconf + makefiles), arch linux or slackware "better" choices.
