Need advice from past converts...

hey guys, i'm going starting college in fall , in bit of dilemma while trying find laptop want. i've been looking getting pc pretty heavily, of lion os stuff going around, have become... macurious. i've used mac before, first time have been contemplating on buying 1 after bashing them many years... have mind set on 15" macbook pro, there small part of me worried not able adjust because miss power priced pc cost. here question of have switched pc mac, did ever miss "power" pc bought specifications wise? also, going engineering program , mac able used engineering programs using? i'm torn between sleek machine or 17" top of line behemoth, , mac looking pretty right now. not want regret decision afterwards.

tl;dr: miss power pc offers?
 

i switched mac 2 years ago, , can tell you, specs not everything. 2009 macbook pro runs circles around desktop, has phenom quad core in it. mac os optimized hardware, while windows has cater greatest common denominator.

not mention, new core ix cpu's, won't missing much. can say, regardless of love windows, won't buying windows laptop, ever. run windows on macbook pro when need to, own macbook pro.
