waking from sleep issues

after searching threads i've found similar issues, nothing quite same. have 2006 mac pro. installed 5770 card month ago. worked fine until yesterday. when try wake sleep mode can hear coming on monitor stays black. run windows on it's own drive , has issues when coming out of sleep too, instead of monitor being black completly restarts. ideas do? can try , older video card see if still have same issues , if not, i'm guessing card defective.
 

you need turn monitor on. press power button.
