My Ipod touch connects to wifi, not my MBP

hi there,

live in rv park , own mbp. there communal wifi network, , router reaches out rv. sometimes. mbp not connect....i connection timeout message when it's trying. when happens if closer router, connect, though doesn't matter am. strange thing when laptop won't connect, if i'm close enough building, ipod touch 4g will. explanations why be? settings change on laptop mirror ipod? thanks.
