AirPrint, Lion, and HP

i'm writing because of request got yesterday setting airprint on xp box. got me thinking...

it's going year since feature come out, , yet still stuck official support number of hp manufactured devices. various 3rd party hacks , solutions popped up, find odd apple has introduced nothing, release of lion (which broke stuff).

i'm not looking technical solution, wondering why feature being left whither on vine. possible reasons can think of patent or license issue (probably held hp), or made exclusivity arrangement hp time period in order native support on printers.

i'm starting lean heavily towards second reason. why else no other printer manufacturers releasing compatible printers? wonder happen when next version of ios comes out , hit year after airprint debut.

airprint stupid

airprint should simple, that's happen when sign 1 company (hp). no printer support it.

yes tell me : "it compatible printer if install or on computer" don't want use computer!!!

that's point of having idevice ipad... not using computer.

, ones compatible airprint expensive. i'm waiting sale when i'll see one... want laser, in 1 printer... no ink... gave enough money ink companies...
