when had macbook pro used store lot of movies on it. used mini display hdmi port connect tv full quality video. understand ipad 720p only? or if airplay? main question whats best route go connect ipad tv highest quality video? 2 routes know spend $100 apple tv , airplay or use cable.

btw have 1080p tv. plan transfer movies mac mini ipad , use ipad hook tv in house or @ friends.
 

i use plex stream movie , tv shows computer ios , android devices.

can setup plex server on mac mini stream ipad use ios plex app. can done on local wifi network (your house), remote wifi network (your friends house) or 3g.

need buy ipad hdmi adapter , connect friend's tv mirror video.
