Quick Time 10 can't play a .mov?

why .mov file not open in qt 10? message:

document “jr97b - cr1 instructor.mov” not opened. movie not in format quicktime player understands.

i'm running qt 10.0 , snow leopard 10.6.8.

thoughts?
 

maybe it's uses unsupported codec prores or mpeg-2 (if install software final cut pro, these codecs added).

might corrupt file. download vlc , see if can play file, if can't file corrupt. because vlc plays everything. once had incomplete movie , played (although stuttered because parts missing of course).

What's the max amount of RAM an iMac can have to run BootCamp & Parallels Windows 7?
