Sound glitching

hi all,

i've posted before no responses , it's starting frustrate me now.

when playing audio through imac (new 2011 27 i7) audio keeps cutting out intermittently short second bursts. happening both through internal speakers , when i'm running line out through headphone out speakers.

when attempted record 'glitch' doesn't show error, instead perfect waveform.

i've recreated audio sample let hear mean it's difficult describe.

please please please if knows i'd appreciate it's doing head in.
 

remove , recreate sound device in audio midi setup?
