Apogee Duet (firewire) on 10.7 Lion

3 temporary workarounds 1st gen apogee duet , lion 10.7

**lion still considered unsupported apogee @ point, so if upgrade lion before apogee releases official update maestro or duet installer software, please don't cry here. :)
try 1 of workarounds below until apogee releases official software updates.
these workarounds of have try new stuff, or updated unknowingly.

let me first state im not sure these work across board, both solutions have worked different users. kittyflipping's method seems work on both new , old machines, try process first. if doesn't work, try #2 , see if work machine.

here's rundown.

problems/symptoms:

have original firewire duet, , installed latest maestro/duet installer on machine running lion. duet show available core audio device in both logic , system sounds, not play audio.

if try playback audio or adjust volume, duet keep disappearing , reappearing available core audio device in logic, same happens if trying play itunes, etc. system sounds show duet appearing , reappearing available device, still no audio.
tried rebooting, no dice. permissions repair, reinstall maestro, etc. , still same issues.

**workaround solution #1 **
(from kittyflipping, confirmed working smeeth123 , holdernessmedia)

1. open activity monitor
2. make sure "all processes" selected in popup menu @ top of window.
3. select duetdaemon , force quit it. me i've had force quit twice kill it.

duet should working fine now. try volume knob on duet.

*additionally, though duet volume knob works fine after this, , system preferences recognizes duet, reason volume icon in menu bar remains grayed out, , volume up/down keys on mbp don't anything. trying this, sure , try duet's volume knob if keys aren't working.

also, on solution, user nitrus submitted this, using kill duetdaemon method in applescript:

**workaround solution #2**

macrumors user voiceofreason: (verified user vtk)

"i have read fixes far apogee duet under osx lion, e.g. killing off "duetdaemon", etc.

here's new one. disconnect duet, run official uninstaller, , let reboot. plug-in duet , re-select output device. now, duet seems work fine , no killing of processes needed. of course, can't go in , run maestro b/c doesn't exist, when killed of duetdaemon before annoying, still didn't allow me use keyboard volume control duet, , getting crackling audio drive running off same firewire port. method (uninstalling software) @ least works , volume control back."

**workaround solution #3 (original)**

(from holdernessmedia, confirmed working aguaplano).

try this, in exact order. opening maestro before trying audio absolutely crucial. assumes have latest duet installer/maestro software apogee's site installed on computer. (version 1.9.14 @ time of posting.)

1.) reboot computer.

2.) not touch duet, or try adjust volume yet. seriously, don't yet. if do, need reboot.

3.) open maestro, click on "identify unit" button. see duet's hardware meters go full red. wait second or so, click "identify unit" button again. duet's hardware meters should return normal.

4.) if need be, in maestro unmute duet's outputs.

5.) try playing audio out of duet now. try using normal in logic, garageband, itunes, whatever.

please, upgraded lion please report here if works you, or if find further information!

hope works others, although i'm sure apogee working hard ready either before or shortly after lion's release.

i tried this, , unfortunately didn't work me. on machine audio if try adjust volume unit resets. found if kill duet daemon after boot up, restore ability adjust volume (when unit resets, goes previous volume setting).
