Adding a macbook to my iMac - how?

i have bought macbook (os x 10.5.8), , access files, or of files, exist on imac. such itunes folder , iphoto, example.

how access 1 computer other?

example, right now, computer can 'see' imac, fails 'connect' in way might browse files. imac cannot see macbook.

need access printer attached imac.

there faq on issue, please?

im guessing macbook doesn't have file sharing enabled, if doesn't appear in finder. heres do
1. open system preferences
2. click on sharing
3. check box says file sharing, on right side of window there more options customize how share, files , folders. default share "public folder." can access specific files going imac opening finder , selecting macbook, on top right there grey bar , button says "connect as" click log in username , password macbook, let access files under macbook user account imac (hope made sense)

make sure file sharing enabled on both computers

printer thing, in same sharing area, there box says printer sharing(right under file sharing actually) check box too, , can customize needed

1 more side note, if want transfer lot of files, or large files, use network(i assume wireless) or way faster way connect ethernet cable directly between 2 computers, , follow above procedure transfer files (sometimes works better if turn off airport on 1 of computers, knows use ethernet rather wireless, dont turn on again till finish transferring files, otherwise might freeze computer) when done eject other computer before unplugging cable. it's worlds faster using wireless network
