Lion: Constant (strange) disk activity

i've had lion installed since day one. spent lot of time first day indexing. now, seems doing disk activity when nothing else happening. stop ten seconds, starts 18 disk activities, stops ten seconds. i'm not sure it's hurting anything, i've never heard before lion. ideas?
 

open activity monitor , see what's happening. might able see causing this.
applications/utilities/activity monitor.

@ least start.
