What's holding back my Mac Pro: The CPU or the HDD?

i have 2008 mac pro (specs in signature). performs admirably well... except logic studio coupled ewql. crackles , pops while i'm playing. it's not problem software, system can't keep up.

now, there couple of major factors:

  • logic in 32-bit mode, due play engine being written in 32-bit. 14gb of ram barely being touched.
  • the ewql instruments stored on individual 1tb hdd (provided them), , still has around 200gb.

now, don't want leave logic behind windows daw i'm not used to... don't want not use ewql library. i've been considering purchasing macbook pro 2011 of late, i'm in need of portable computer... plus, geekbench results indicate macbook pro out performs mac pro 2-to-1. finally, it's entirely possible me ahold of 2-esata port expresscard should allow raid setup, should fast enough ewql... think.

i'm pretty in situation i'm not sure do, , path go down pretty one-way path. should purchase ssd/raid setup? if so, should external or internal? or, should move onto new macbook pro, give me portability , speed i'm (hopefully) looking for?

well, can add a second cpu ~$200 , 2x1tb in raid 0 cost $100. second cpu should double cpu power.
