Why I want to learn how to spoof the IMIE of a USA Apple iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS

i'm researching how spoof imei of usa apple iphone 3g or 3gs yet unbought - , - i'm writing state many people here wrong 'assume' peoples' motives desire able change imei numbers on fly.

particularly dismaying see repeatedly (and incorrectly) people state illegal change imei number of applle iphone.

while (apparently) illegal change personal cellphone's imei in more draconian countries (e.g., in uk), decidedly not illegal spoof imei number of cellphone in united states, it's not illegal spoof computer hostname or clone wifi router's mac address or spoof personal email address or spoof phone number appear calling (in usa).

having established legality (in usa) of spoofing imei number of mobile phone (those evidence contrary must supply law - - won't able - because in usa, law not exist based on fcc communications & complaint) ... want state, record, reasons 'wanting' spoof imei address (which plainly told fcc also).

yet, kid owns worn blackberry bold. texts lot , uses voice. that's uses. that's want. in fact, have data block, in case accidentally hit web buttons.

'grandfathered' under usa at&t smartphone exclusion plan such particular blackberry exempt onerous recent at&t policy of charging $25/month use whatsoever (even if voice and/or text) of cellphone transmitting imei on list at&t deems "smartphone".

however, blackberry worn. considering buying on craigslist on open market (for $200, give or take few bucks) apple iphone 3g or iphone 3gs use teen.

options (afaik):
- switch t-mobile (who has no such imei penalty plan)
- stay on at&t & pay $25 imei penalty (even data block)
- stay on at&t & spoof imei number of to-be-purchased smartphone of other phone not on corporate imei penalty list

spoofing of imei number legal in united states.

there no doubt of legality (according communications fcc). spoofing either original blackberry imei; or non smartphone (such motorola razr).

i agree being forced data plan unfortunate not want one. while not illegal, believe intending against at&t terms of service signed in contract. wrong though. also, can't imagine using iphone without data. why not purchase wifi blackberry?
