MacBook Pro, Apple TV and Time Capsule 2TB

i wondering if can me query have re: apple tv , time capsule macbook pro.

have relatively substantial catalogue of movies etc on external 1tb hard drive i'm running low on space , contemplating grabbing 2gb time capsule upgrade. birthday in few weeks , partner wanting know like, i've been considering new apple tv while now, , wondering how 2 integrate 1 another.

wondering is....if store videos on time capsule...would able wirelessly stream them apple tv, connected tv set within house or apple tv's dependance on itunes make impossible.

tips or alternative recommendations appreciated.
 

i think have have time capsule wirelessly connected macbook pro. can jailbreak appletv , install atv flash allows stream non-itunes media macbook. have movies on time capsule attached macbook pro , atv able stream them long have file sharing turned on.
