Way to transfer between a Lion and Snow Leopard machine

i'll ask question first cause can wordy. can transfer files snow leopard machine wirelessly (not using mobileme) lion machine? i've figured out how snow leopard snow leopard. or suppose wires ok i'd rather not (i have firewire, usb, , ethernet ports on both machines don't think have right cables firewire or ethernet). they're both running on same wifi network (which how doing between 2 now, want know if still work when macbook has lion on , mbp doesn't).

, want backstory (as said, can wordy).

alright, i've proven it's thing used old, "backup" macbook try out lion lion promptly fubarred hard drive (i'm sure cause working fine until told install , sudden there issue hard drive. first aid on snow leopard echoed , not fix erase of hard drive seemed make first aid hard drive fine).

don't have on old laptop , i'd stuff on (which on current laptop , time machine keyed computer, reason ended doing made computer not use time machine last computer it's seperate, not sure how work try stuff off of it).

i'd go ahead , install lion on old macbook i've erased hard drive , reinstalled snow leopard (i guess i'm doing clean install, kinda).

i've figured out how both on snow leopard transferring files taking while (my large music collection).

impatient side of me wants install lion , deal getting old files on later (i don't need old macbook @ moment, want keep essentials on if have use backup, has @ least basic stuff having on it). , don't want install lion on computer yet (biggest reason want lion though take advantage of icloud , keep macbooks , iphone synched) backup drive full , don't have new 1 yet , after experience, i'm not updating until have way of backing (right still have pretty recent backup before update it, want backup day @ least). plus want wait on 1 til bugs worked out (i don't need 'til icloud , want on old 1 can play around it).

 

you can transfer files between 2 machines running on wifi on local network. doesn't matter if it's lion, snow leopard, linux or windows, file sharing common all. need enable file sharing on each computer , make sure firewall isn't preventing access within local network.

macs running recentish system software enable file sharing , should see shared stuff in sidebars of finder windows. , don't need move music; enable home sharing in itunes on machine music , itunes on other machine should able find , play it.

, believe can migrate files using migration ass't on network, recommend firewire or usb instead, more reliable , faster.
