i have imac, mid-2010, 3.6/i5 processor running latest snow leopard. purchased samsung hdtv , onkyo receiver. connected mini display port in mac via adaptor , hdmi cable hdmi input on receiver. picture perfect, sound drops out couple of seconds, 2-3 times minute, receiver seeming indicate not receiving sound during dropouts. has else heard of this, , if so, know how may able fix this. matter of tweaking of settings on either mac or receiver? other hdmi inputs receiver (cable, game systems, etc) having no sound issues, 1 mac.   is on 10.6.8? people reporting 10.6.8 has audio problems. hi there, have received 1 week ago new mbp 2011 15" (2,2ghz, hi-res 128go ssd) replace mbp 2010 (i7 2,66ghz). i'm satisfied : * no heat: 32° idle on intel, 38° on ati , 50° in day use ati card * fast in multitasks, video/audio editing, etc... * ssd appreciable , although not fast sata 3 ones, guess difference hardly noticeable. close scores reboot, standby, etc... if apple ssd optimized mac os. have 1 concern it: handbrake video encoding, handbrake process using 550-650% of cpu instead of closer 800%. have idea?   do have other applications running? if so, intensive applications logic or final cut or of adobe applications, system doesn't want starve them resources won't use ~800% cpu. check handbrake other applications closed , see if has effect. thing of settings in hb don't squeeze every drop of cpu. mess settings bit , see if has effect.

starting day before yesterday noticed small sound coming area of left side of wrist rest. it's not regular sound, kind of happens every few minutes or whatever not on regular cycle or anything. it's mechanical sliding sound ending in quiet click. when it's quiet, mean quiet, in room has totally silent , have have ear within foot of computer hear it. bad? have looked failing hard drive sounds , nothing have heard or read sounds this. hope being paranoid , it's normal hard drive sound, thought ask since have 8 days of warranty left , if it's failing don't want find out in month or two. disk is: "toshiba mk2555gsxf media" , when smart check says it's verified.   its head of hard drive doing thing.   Forums Macs Notebooks
