i took old 320gb sataii internal hard drive out of old windows xp pc, bought nexstar cx enclosure make external hd plugged in , didn't work on mbp. so, assumed formatting issue, hd formatted ntfs. attmepted format disc xp wouldn't let me saying (paraphrased) "you can't because make computer not work." partitioned , made partition fat32 because mac's can read/write format (yes?), still doesn't recognize hd @ all. how can work? how format hd pc (because pc thing recognizes it) mac? i'm not sure if i've provided enough information questions welcome.   if run disk utility on macbook pro drive plugged in, show on left side other devices? if mac not read @ first, disk utility should able format mac can use it.   Forums Macs Notebooks

we bought office 2008 physical store promise of free upgrade 2011 (november 2010). installed 2008 using activation keys supplied, , later upgraded 2011 via download. no new keys given upgrade (presumably old keys valid since upgrade worked fine). got new mac , tried install software office 2011 dvd order @ upgrade time. 2008 activation keys not work. ideas on do. guys, i've bought new sony hdtv (on sale, price) after realizing older model getting little bit long in tooth (only 1 hdmi port, no optical audio etc.). seemingly ironic reason because i'd bought atv2, has no analog/component ports anymore. however. still struggling how audio out home theater system , speakers. atv2 sound plays fine in tv speakers, that's not want. main points consider: - dz-630 home theater not have optical ports, 1 hdmi out port, have component , analog audio in ports (line); - tv has analog audio out, optical audio out, scart, component, audio mini-jack , 4x hdmi. have connected atv2 via hdmi tv, while home theater linked tv through scart (for cable) , component (for dvd). however, not let atv2 sound go through speakers. tried using rca audio out tv home theater's audio in (line), no avail. in other words, seems hdmi-connected atv2 not send audio through tv's audio out line connectors in home theater. havin

how move win 7 pc install mac using parallels & iso file? hi, have pc laptop running windows 7 64-bit. create iso disc image of os , use parallels 6 install win 7 in virtual environment on mac book pro 13"(2010; 7,1) using osx lion. pc application can use create iso file? going use native win 7 backup application because acronis true image creates .tib files. however, want exclude directories , inbuilt backup app doesn't have option. heard parallels 6 requires windows 7 installation disc ensure hardware , driver issue compatability. work if create iso on win 7 , open in parallels?   magiciso or poweriso might trick, why don't use dvd directly in mbp?   Forums Macs macOS macOS

i'm looking create raid1 setup. run 2008 mbp, , i'm out of school it's connected external monitor , keyboard/mouse. i'd create raid1 backup/archive of digital media (family videos, pictures, hi-8 transfers, etc.). choose raid1 can have dual hdds , have them mirrored it's more reliable (if i'm not mistaking?) looking @ these 2 options in head. 1. have software raid via os x , buy dual-bay external enclosure , use via usb. 2. buy dedicated dual-bay enclosure built-in raid1. because it's more of archiving data, plan on running when need read/write data , otherwise keeping powered off. i'd know pro/con/suggestions/limitations/corrections/etc. of both setups , 1 better choice.   Forums Macs Mac Basics and Help iPhone Mac OS & System Software iPad Apple Watch
