ok have 2009 mini giving son, , have 2010 mini. have been using time machine 2009, , need restore backups 2010, both machines named macmini. 1) easy restore 1 machine or there sort of signature apple writes based on hardware when backing in machine? 2) once new 1 restored, can keep using existing external drive or should reformat have clean disk time machine. have never had use tm restore before trying figure out should do.   on new mini, create different user account log in under 1 you're restoring. connect time machine backup new mini , use migration assistant restore time machine backup. should ask user accounts want restore. once migration assistant finishes, log in restored old account on new mini. i'm not 100% positive, should able continue use time machine new mini , backup usual.   Forums ...

hello, purchased (last week) 21" imac - core i5 2.7. first mac computer, felt had in on hype! (plus time upgrade - last computer pentium 4) far i'm pretty happy, have set boot camp , far enjoying experience. few things i've noticed little irritating are: 1. when usb external drive (it wd passport 750gb) connected, seems slow whole system down. happens in both windows , osx. switching windows, running applications, etc. unplug usb drive, performance increases dramatically. 2. thing i've noticed choppy audio. happens in audio clips , video. goes away. weird. know apple , adobe don't play nice, hardware, should not happen. suggestions.   suggestions on drive issue... drive may have problems, use disk utility repair it. maybe spotlight indexing it, i'd surprised if discern performance impact spotlight open activity monitor , see if can i...

mods, if have posted in wrong forum please feel free move. searched on , not find else experiencing this. here goes- got great deal on 2tb wd usb hdd last week take advantage of time machine connected our airport extreme base station. have 4 computers total use backup (2009 13" macbook pro, 2007 macbook 2.0, , 2 dell mini 9s running snow leopard). more specs- airport extreme 802.11n (2nd generation) running firmware 7.5.2 (latest). first mistake made going around usb hdd , backing via time machine each one. found out if want network backups have start there. reformatted , started over. first did 2 mini 9s since didn't have data on them. went try macbook pro , received following error- ​ went on , continued backups other 3 systems, of work fine. whatever reason macbook pro refuses work. can confirm access drive because can read , write network. seems time machine on system has issue. did notice macbook pro machine ...
